You Don’t Need Advice — You Need a Sounding Board
We live in a world full of advice. Scroll your feed, open a podcast, skim an article — everywhere, someone is telling you what to do.
But here’s what I’ve learned after two decades as a finance executive, CFO, and coach: most of us don’t actually need more advice. We need a sounding board.
A place to pause.
A person to listen.
A space to process the thoughts we already carry.
Why I Started The Sounding Board
In boardrooms, I’ve watched CEOs and CFOs — some of the smartest people you’ll ever meet — wrestle with doubt and second-guess their own decisions. Behind the spreadsheets and strategies, they just wanted someone to ask the right questions, reflect back what they were saying, and help them find clarity.
And it’s not just executives. We all need that space. Whether we’re navigating a career change, a tough relationship, or just the everyday pressure of balancing work and life, the truth is the same:
👉 Clarity doesn’t come from more noise.
👉 It comes from reflection.
That’s what The Sounding Board is about.
What You’ll Find Here
Each week, I’ll share short essays and reflections on:
Leadership and resilience → lessons I’ve seen in high-stakes boardrooms, reframed for everyday life.
Finance as metaphor → using numbers, strategy, and systems to think differently about growth and balance.
Whole-person living → reminders that who we are at work and who we are in life are not separate stories.
This isn’t a lecture. It’s a conversation. Think of it as us sitting over coffee, reflecting on the questions that actually matter.
What’s Next
My promise: I’ll keep it thoughtful, practical, and human. Sometimes I’ll share a story from my CFO journey. Sometimes I’ll offer a framework you can apply. Always, I’ll leave you with a question to carry into your week.
A Question to Start With
When was the last time you really had a sounding board — someone who listened, reflected, and helped you clarify your own next step?
👋 Welcome to The Sounding Board. I’m glad you’re here.
